Fading Year

Where has this year gone!!?? It amazes me that each year seems to pass more quickly than the one before - a sign of getting older, I suppose. Tomorrow, I'll be 52 years young & I have never felt better about myself! If I could just get Harry to stop lying to himself & to me about his diabetes. But, I have let go of trying to control that situation, as there is little to nothing more I can do about it. He knows the consequences of his continued non-compliance & I have told him that I will have to deal with those consequences, but that he will have live with them. My job will easier than his.

Thanksgiving is just about a week & a half away & all-in-all I have so much to be grateful for. My job continues to challenge me & make me happy. My Farmgirl Chapter, new this year in my life, is small but has given me new friends & new fun. It's brought me much-needed female friendship & fellowship.

My family is well & for that I am always grateful. So, mostly, life is good to me & I enjoy each day & its gifts.

Cream City Chick Changes

The Cream City Chicks, they are a-changin' it seems. Two of the ladies have told me that don't feel that the Chapter is what they're looking for. Unfortunately, last Wednesday, I was left "holding the proverbial bag" when no one showed up for the meeting. I knew that Sarah wouldn't be coming. I think that she may be staying with the Chapter - I truly hope so. Jill and Danielle are looking for something different that what I have envisioned. So, I have asked them all to think about whether or not they want to continue or not, but that I do have one condition - that being that they tell me what their decision is, sooner rather than later. I guess we'll see what transpires.

I DID IT!!!

Well, I walked the 3 miles yesterday, in the Step Out for Diabetes walk!!! The first 2/3rds of a mile, my leg muscles were not thrilled to be moving, and they let me know that in no uncertain terms. But, I pushed ahead and soon I was moving at a good clip up until the last 1/2 mile or so. I really had to work that stretch and tell myself how good I would feel when I was done. But, I made it! I met a great woman, named Tammy, who taught me how to made Puerto Rican Fried Rice while we were walking! Great fun and a great day!

Well, on Saturday (the 18th) I have a challenge to face! A 3-mile walk for the American Diabetes Association! I feel ready though. My team from work has raised over $400 to date, so that's a good thing. And, the weather looks like it will cooperate - sunny & cool! I'm ready to go!

Fall is Here

Looks like autumn has arrived. . .my favorite time of year! Hubby & I are already planning our anniversary getaway for the end of next month (Halloween weekend) up to Door County this year! Can't wait for that!

Well, we've got 2 possible names for our Farmgirl Chapter: the Wisconsin Butter Belles or the Cream City Chicks (guess which one is my favorite?). We'll be going to the Hales Corners farmers' market on the 25th of October to "market" our Chapter & hopefully get some new members. I'll be posting a sign at my Curves, too. Have to remember to do that tomorrow!

Beginnings

Welcome to my new blog! Since I am well on my way in starting the Milwaukee Chapter of the MaryJane's Farmgirls, I thought that it was the perfect time to start blogging about my experience...not only of starting the Chapter and watching it grow, but also of changing my life to one that is more simple and calm. MaryJane has motivated me to look to the past to find comfort and guidance for my future...to incorporate the things that I already enjoy (cooking, crafting, needlework) and to learn new ones in making my home a haven for my husband and myself.
